The Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) is the U.S. Department of Defense agency responsible for issuing tropical cyclone warnings for the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) provides the highest ...
Abstract Tropical cyclone wind–pressure relationships are reexamined using 15 yr of minimum sea level pressure estimates, numerical analysis fields, and best-track intensities. Minimum sea level pressure is estimated from aircraft reconnaissance or measured from dropwindsondes, and maximum wind speeds are interpolated from best-track maximum 1 …
Abstract Tropical cyclone track forecasting has improved recently to the point at which extending the official forecasts of both track and intensity to 5 days is being considered at the National Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. Current verification procedures at both of these operational centers utilize a suite of control models, derived from …
Observed TC tracks for the WNP basin (0-60 • N, 100-180 • E) are obtained from the U.S. Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Centre (JTWC) best-track database (Chu et al., 2002). We define a …

Tropical cyclone (TC) is the most hazardous high-impact weather system in Taiwan. TC seasonal prediction affecting the Taiwan area is extremely challenging because of the relatively small target area and highly variable TC genesis locations and tracks.
The JTWC primarily uses the Dvorak method to determine TC intensity, which analyzes cloud patterns in visible and infrared images from both polar orbiting and geostationary satellites. Each best track data contains TC center locations and intensities (minimum pressure and maximum wind speed) at 6-hour intervals.
last advisory, when it was rated as a category 4 storm. The latest JTWC advisory showed it with sustained winds of 121 mph (195 kph), with gusts to near 150 mph (241 kph). The current outlook shows the typhoon going through regions of southern Luzon and central Visayas during the next day or two. The relatively

obtained from the JTWC and RSMC best track databases is the use of one-minute average wind speeds to estimate tropical cyclone intensity by JTWC and 10-minute averages by RSMC-Tokyo. This difference results in JTWC intensity estimates typically being higher for tropical cyclones with maxi mum winds exceeding 100 knots.

Joint Typhoon Warning Center (アメリカセンター)
The origins of the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) can be traced back to June 1945, when the Fleet Weather Center/Typhoon Tracking Center was established on the island of Guam, after multiple typhoons, including Typhoon Cobra of December 1944 and Typhoon Connie in June 1945, had caused a significant loss of men and ships. At this time the centre was one of three …
Dots mark storm location every 12 h (from JTWC). Net SST cooling (blue shades) is the difference between pre-storm and post-storm SST (dates on top), e.g. 4–9 Jun 1998 denotes 4 June 1998 SST minus 9 June 1998 SST.
; The Weather Research & Forecasting Model (WRF) The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model is a next-generation mesoscale numerical weather prediction system designed for both atmospheric research and operational forecasting needs.
